Get Out of Your Office

It’s safe to say that we all can appreciate a good office space. But there are those times when ideas are feeling stale and getting out of the office either by yourself or with your team is a fantastic idea.

There’s a reason we all feel a bit stuffy in our office or cubicle sometimes and our brains seemingly go to mush.

Don’t Let This Happen

Keeping ourselves indoors can produce what health experts call “nature deficit disorder”. Anxiety and depression resulting from too little time spent outdoors. Getting out of that fluorescent, sterile space can lower stress, reduce blood pressure, and improve your immune system, just a few benefits that nature gives us. Sprinkling some nature into your office can also benefit the mind, increasing productivity, creativity, and focus.

Harvard physician Eva M. Selhub, the co-author of Your Brain on Nature, says a drop of nature is like a drop of morphine to the brain since it “stimulates reward neurons in your brain. It turns off the stress response which means you have lower cortisol levels, lower heart rate, and blood pressure and improved immune response.”

Creativity Unhinged

Taking a day to work from home or in a different space can improve morale immensely especially in a creative career. Feeling unbound will unhinge the creative process allowing for new and fresh thoughts.

The Mega team recently began practicing this exercise inadvertently due to an impromptu office remodel. Seeking workspace in the coffee shops of Tampa Bay, laptops in tow we were excited at the prospect of a fresh perspective. Exploring different spaces allowed for us to brainstorm with expediency. It is a proverbial and literal breath of fresh air for us.

Getting out of the office is immensely conducive to your mind and your team’s mind. Getting your brain on the right track can and will increase your productivity. We care about your success that is why we practice what we preach. Our focus is on making sure you are successful. So get out of your office get focused, the sky’s the limit.
